Circular II
August 11, 2006.
My lord-Bishops and Married Priests. Do not think that you will get a circular every week. This second circular has soon followed the first because of its urgency and the development of our association, “Married Priests Now.” After we have received many positive responses, the advisers to the association met on 10th August, 2006, and they unanimously agreed that this second meeting of married priests was appropriate and had soon to take place.
We hereby announce to you the good news that we expect 130 priests in Washington, D.C. at the Sheraton Hotel, arriving on Sunday evening for those who are from within the countries like USA and Canada. Others may arrive on Saturday depending on your airlines. We will have supper together on Sunday. After Supper there will be a social gathering. The meeting is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, while Wednesday is the departure day.
Please, send us your passport identification details, we shall issue your tickets which will be consonant with your passport information. Please, do not delay to get your visa for the United States. If you send us your identification details we shall send a personal letter of invitation from our association.
Very important announcement! Please, bring with you an alb and a stole for the celebration of Mass. For those who will arrive Saturday, we shall celebrate Mass together on Sunday morning at the hotel. Cleanse your souls from all grudges created by the circumstances which led you to your actual state, which has caused you a lot of pain. You are no more a wounded soldier in the army of Christ. Like Saint Ignatius of Loyola, wake up and go to the Holy Land to follow the footsteps of the wounded Jesus, the triumphant and the risen One. We are going to share the gifts of our resurrection with the whole church. We are married priests with a difference, Jesus has told us “wake up now and watch with me. Let us go to meet the enemy.” Ours will be holiness acquired from the purification of our souls as we underwent the agonies which took different forms. The Blessed Virgin Mary is in the forefront leading us back to Jesus, the High Priest. Together with Her we rejoice for our double parenthood, human and spiritual, the new symbols of victory of the Roman Catholic married priesthood.
Looking forward to meeting you.
Yours Respectfully,
Archbishop Emmanuel Milingo.
