A Novena to the Divine Mercy of Jesus
My Dear Friends and Married Priests,

It is too early to send you Christmas Whishes. But just think that someone is already wishing you Merry Christmas. You are likely to have too many Christmas cards, and mine may not be read during Christmas season. It may just be one of the decorations on a Christmas tree.
However, here is a thought which we can share, “a friend in need is a friend indeed.” Join me as I make s Novena from 1st to 9th of November, 2007. You will sympathize with me, having entered into the lives of married priests, some of the situations in which married priests are, cause more than just worries, but even depressions. The recent case of such a priest charged to pay $192,000,000 for sexual abuses. Some parents refused to bring to court their abused children, now grown up. Because they argued, it was necessary to preserve a good name for the children and for the family. They forgave the priests-culprits. Thanks to God and to the parents.

But we owe the priests-culprits prayers of expiation for a change of mind. You have heard that one priest from Rome, who had confessed that he was homosexual, but had no remorse for it. We have applications of homosexual priests to join our Movement of Married Priests Now! But we are actually married priests, married to women. We have wives, not our fellow masculine husbands, who by agreement one plays the woman.
It seems as if the sins crying for vengeance no more exist in the Catholic Church. That is why Rome has no feeling for such grave and serious sins committed in the name of celibacy. It is not just the fact that the priests-culprits have no remorse, but Rome itself has no remorse. What they believe in is to punish the culprit, letting the celibate sexual sins go on at the cost of the loss of many souls, due to the scandals caused by these same sins.

I hope that Rome has read the following from the writings of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, Jesus Speaking: “Behold this heart which has so loved men that it spared nothing, even exhaust and consume itself, to prove them its love. I receive from the greater part of men nothing but ingratitude, by the contempt, irreverence, sacrilege, and coldness with which they treat me in this sacrament of love (The Eucharist). But what is still more painful to me is that even souls consecrated to me are acting in this way.” (St. Margaret Mary Alacoque-1675)

How many of us have committed and still commit sacrileges, as we celebrate Mass without the required conditions as a preparation to handle the Holy of Holies. Devotions, I mean personal devotions, are anathema even to some priests. They uplift the so called solid faith. They consider devotions obsolete traditional practices. Consequently mystics are not accepted in their parishes.
During this Novena why not say the following prayer: “Remove from me all that can displease you or resist your Holy will; let your pure love imprint your image so deeply upon my heart that I shall never be able to forget you or to be separated from you. May I obtain from you loving kindness the grace of having my name written in your heart, for in you I desire to place all my happiness and glory, living and dying in bondage to you.” (Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus)

Why Not the Easy Way: The Rosary

My Readers and Friends are Anglicans, Lutherans, Orthodox, Old Catholics, The Baptists, Presbyterians, Methodists, Muslims, and Buddhists. I am a grown up Christian. But enumeration may offend someone without willing it, by omission. I certainly have more friends in religion than I can enumerate. The Jews invited me to their celebration on Saturday. The following Sunday they invited me to the celebration of the Feast of the Tabernacles, which concludes with a Holy Meal.

It is the worry of every believer in God when they see the decadence of the Catholic Church. And some of us, who are public persons, seem to raise our heads above the waters as soon as we come in public, and are then immediately addressed: “Do you know what is happening in Rome? Are you aware that they have put in jail a priest, etc?” Such questions or stories come from all those who wish the Catholic Church the best. They cannot stand the fact that the Catholic Church is lowered to the level where it is today in some countries. So let us join hands together in prayer for the Catholic Church and its priests. To say a rosary everyday for nine days is facultative. Say a prayer which you choose as meaningful to you. Stay at it for nine days.

We all pray so fervently when the life of our parents is in danger. Sometimes we are so vanquished that we cannot even pray, so desperate we find ourselves. The Catholic Church for many Independent Churches still remains a central figure. I have offered Mass with some of these Independent Churches, they pray for the Pope, and recite the same creed, and follow the Roman calendar for their celebration of Mass. In our recent meeting in Campo Grande, here in Brazil, we celebrated Mass together: Anglicans, Independent Catholics, Orthodox, and Ukrainians. Independent Catholics took the readings, and so the Anglicans. The Homily was done by the Orthodox Archbishop, while I presided over the Consecration. We ate and drank from the same chalice. Unity in fact was achieved. We were all overjoyed.

The Beautiful Words of Jesus

“You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt loses its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good from anything except to be thrown away and trodden underfoot by men.” No! No! Lord, we do not want to be ‘trodden underfoot.” But to be reinstated as the chosen and consecrated Ministers of God, to remain His priests forever. And so we are. May Mary Our Mother accompany us during these nine days.

Happy Novena and harvest as much as you can.

Yours Sincerely,
+Archbishop E. Milingo
